Job Summary: The Receiving & Returns Clerk is responsible for overseeing the receipt of products
and materials, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the process. This role involves checking deliveries
against orders, processing customer returns, and coordinating with other departments to maintain
smooth operations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and
the ability to assess and prioritize a variety of tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive and Inspect Deliveries
- Count and verify the quantity and condition of goods received against purchase orders and shipping documents. Inspect all inbound shipments for damage or discrepancies and report issues to the appropriate department.
- Accurately record the receipt of goods into the inventory management system.
- Maintain detailed records of all incoming shipments, including SKU, quantity, source, and date received.
- Organize and store received items in designated locations to ensure efficient inventory management.
- Perform general administrative tasks related to receiving and inventory management, including filing, scanning, and data entry.
Process Customer Returns
- Receive and inspect customer returns according to company procedures.
- Ensure that the full returns process is followed so that customers are refunded and inventory is recorded accurately upon product return.
- Coordinate with the customer experience team and the quality department to resolve customer product issues and ensure proper handling of returned goods.
Coordinate with Other Departments
- Communicate with procurement, warehouse, and other relevant departments to ensure
timely processing of deliveries.
- Coordinate with the logistics team to address any issues related to delivery schedules
or documentation.
- Assist inventory management team with periodic inventory counts and audits to ensure
accuracy and resolve any discrepancies potentially related to receiving.
- Provide excellent service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
Qualifications:
Experience: Previous experience in a receiving or inventory role preferred. Familiarity with
inventory management systems is beneficial.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items as needed.
- Ability to operate equipment including, but not limited to: pallet jacks, industrial scales, shrink wrappers, and fork trucks.
- Proficient in basic computer applications and data entry.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well with other departments.
