About Us: Guardian Bikes is a dynamic mid-stage startup in the process of rapidly scaling the first vertically integrated bike company in the United States. All of our bikes are sold on guardianbikes.com and ship from our Indiana factory floor to our customer’s doors. We made the transition to USA manufacturing two years ago and established a facility in Seymour, Indiana.
The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) performs a variety of duties that are in support of the facility operations and reports directly to the Senior Manufacturing Engineer. As the ME, the employee performs engineering assignments with clearly specified goals and objectives that support the overall strategic plan of the company. In addition, must develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with our product specifications and quality standards. The ME will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. They also serve as an integral team member for manufacturing that launches new or revised products or processes. Specific priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
SPECIFIC TASKS, DUTIES, AND/OR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
● Responsible for the overall mechanical design and engineering of equipment used by Guardian Bikes.
● Ensures that the machines are built and operate in accordance with the design specifications.
● Participates in the machine de-bug’ and troubleshooting.
● Supervises machine installation and set-up.
● Directs and assists in the preparation of Operating, Maintenance and Training manuals.
● Conducts Equipment Training Sessions if required.
● Acts as Project Manager throughout all internal projects.
● Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods, and production equipment.
● Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
● Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a focus on engineering
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the engineering field.
- Good communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Machining, automation, and design experience.
- Proficient computer skills with a focus on CAD design.
