Miftek is a Purdue Research Park company that designs state of the art instrumentation for life science and diagnostics. This rapidly expanding company has been awarded several key patents in the fields of cytometry, spectroscopy, and photonics. We are now developing novel solutions for single cell analysis. Our facility located in West Lafayette has easy access to campus, shopping, and downtown.
Role
A full-time Mechatronics Engineer will be integral to the ongoing development and productization of new scientific technology. They will develop fluidics, robotics, and other electromechanical hardware in order to meet the high standards of performance required to compete in our industry. Within this startup environment, they will have opportunities to branch out and broaden their skill set.
Salary
$90k - $120k per skillset and experience
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain the fluidic and robotic components of our scientific instruments
- Improve the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of existing designs
- Develop and maintain real-time control system firmware
- Implement electronics as necessary for power, sensing, and controls
- Perform assembly, testing, and bring-up of new electromechanical hardware
- Help integrate electromechanical designs with our optical platforms
- Proactively identify design goals and critical issues, and participate in design reviews
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or other relevant engineering discipline
- 4+ years of professional design experience is ideal
- Solid fundamentals with electromechanical systems and desire to continue learning
- Able to design and prototype electronics (microcontrollers, sensors, stepper drivers, etc.)
- Demonstrable experience with 3D modeling and rapid prototyping
- Hands-on experience with tools and fabrication, such as milling, drilling, lathe, or sheet metal
- Able to work cohesively with other mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers
- Able to gain a thorough understanding of our core technology
- Adaptable and enjoys working in an environment where day to day tasks may vary
Experience in any of the following areas is a plus, but is not required: Photonics (lasers, high power LEDs, photodiodes, PMTs), Physical simulation (fluid, thermal, electromagnetic), FPGA firmware
