Polymer Chemist
Toralgen
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Polymer Chemist with a Master's or Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in various polymerization techniques including esterification, condensation polymerization, bulk and solution polymerization, and coupling chemistry, preferably involving biologic molecules (e.g., peptides, proteins, monoclonal antibodies).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and synthesize novel polymers using methods such as esterification, step-growth, and chain-growth polymerizations.
- Conduct polymerization reactions in bulk and in solution phases, optimizing conditions for yield, molecular weight, and functionality.
- Develop and apply coupling strategies for conjugating polymers with biologic compounds.
- Characterize polymers using analytical techniques such as GPC, NMR, FTIR, DSC, TGA, and rheology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including formulation scientists, biochemists, and engineers.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records and prepare technical reports and presentations.
- Stay up to date with current literature and emerging trends in polymer and biomaterials science.
Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
- Strong background in polymer synthesis including esterification and condensation reactions.
- Hands-on experience in bulk and solution polymerization.
- Knowledge of coupling chemistries with biologics (e.g., EDC/NHS, click chemistry) is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with polymer-biologic conjugates or drug delivery systems
- Industrial or postdoctoral experience in polymer R&D.
- Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., pharma, biotech) is advantageous.
