Morris Turner began his career in 1940 as a machinist working for Cummins, Inc. making diesel engine components. He worked in many positions over the next 37 years and finished his career at Cummins establishing and managing their research/prototype machine shop. Since machining was “in his blood” he had a manual lathe, manual mill, and a surface grinder in the basement of his home in Columbus, Indiana. After retiring from Cummins, with no plans except to go fishing, he started receiving calls from the engineers he had worked with asking if he would be interested in helping with some small, complex, prototype parts….and Turner’s Machining Specialties (TMS) was born in 1977.
