Must be authorized to work on ITAR restricted products
Holds a current or able to maintain a FAA part 107 remote pilot certificate
Responsibilities
Test new and existing systems we build and operate in order to ensure that we are developing safe and reliable systems
This may include pre-flighting and launching aircraft doing repair and maintenance work on aircraft and ground systems and performing tests on new hardware and software
You will be working to improve the process, building and testing of prototypes for our next-generation tech and collecting data of various types
Such as motor/prop thrust data, power draw requirements and more
You will be working to improve the process, building and testing of prototypes and provide technical feedback and ideas to our engineering and operations teams on how to make our systems safer, more intuitive and more reliable
Validate engineering and software changes in the early stages of development
Preferred Qualifications
You enjoy work that gets you out from behind a desk, getting to work hands on with the hardware and software
Prior flight testing or hobbyist flight experience with unmanned aerial systems (drones, remote controlled aircraft, etc)
You enjoy troubleshooting and are comfortable with electromechanical build and repair projects
You thrive in an autonomous unpredictable and dynamic environment where you identify what needs to happen and get it done with very little oversight
You have the vigilance and focus to conduct extended flight operations in a safe manner and with a focus on optimizing on a daily basis
you lead by example, and enjoy the satisfaction of collaborating with a dedicated team on a common goal
You have great writing skills and don’t let failures or progress go undocumented
You are meticulous and process oriented by nature
Compensation:
$ 16-20 / hr
Expected hours: 10-30 hr / wk
Part Time - Non-exempt
Who are we looking for?
As a R&D Drone engineer you will have the critical task of testing new and existing systems in order to ensure that we develop safe and reliable systems. This will include packing up an aircraft for operations, pre-flighting the aircraft, launching and recovering the aircraft, as well as any maintenance and repairs on the aircraft or ground equipment. You will also be expected to provide detailed technical feedback and ideas to our engineering and operations teams on how to improve systems. Your work will directly improve the awareness and safety of first responders as they carry out their mission.
About Us
Uniform Sierra was founded in 2021 by two students at Purdue University to provide adaptable, affordable, U.S. built drone hardware to business and government clients. Since its founding, Uniform Sierra has served both Federal and State agencies through products like the Arrowhead - Tactical indoor sUAS and various training and contracting projects.
