OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for assisting in overseeing the design, construction, maintenance, and operation of our facilities. The ideal candidate will possess an engineering degree along with either five years of relevant experience or ten years of experience in facilities engineering. They should have a strong background in equipment selection and installation, project management, knowledge of construction processes and trades, and technical writing skills. Additionally, environmental awareness regarding hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, and water quality is essential for this role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design and oversee the construction and modification of facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders to develop facility plans and specifications.
- Conduct equipment selection, evaluation, and procurement processes based on project requirements and technical specifications.
- Manage construction projects, including creating project schedules, coordinating with contractors, and monitoring progress to ensure timely completion within budget.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential operational improvements.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop preventive maintenance programs and ensure effective maintenance of facility systems and equipment.
- Stay informed about advancements in construction techniques, materials, and technologies, and make recommendations for incorporating improvements into facility design and operations.
- Develop and maintain accurate documentation, including technical reports, equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and standard operating procedures.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices related to hazardous materials, hazardous waste management, air quality, and water quality.
- Provide technical expertise and support to internal teams, contractors, and vendors during facility-related projects and maintenance activities.
- Foster a culture of safety, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement within the facilities department.
- Follow all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations.
SKILLS • EXPERIENCE • EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering plus a minimum of five years of relevant experience or ten years of experience in facilities engineering with no engineering degree
- Strong knowledge and experience in equipment selection and installation processes
- Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to create and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively
- In-depth understanding of construction processes, building systems, and trades
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills
