OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The General Laborer supports daily operations within the machine shop by assisting machinists, handling materials, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and ensuring smooth production flow. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, and eager to learn manufacturing processes in a hands-on environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Machine Shop Support
- Assist machinists and operators by staging materials, preparing work areas, and retrieving tools or supplies as needed.
- Material Handling
- Load, unload, and transport raw materials, components, and finished parts using carts, or forklifts (if certified).
- Shop Maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping, disposing of scrap, and cleaning equipment and common areas.
- Inventory & Tooling Support
- Assist with restocking consumables, organizing tools, and maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Safety Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- General Production Support
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals.
SKILLS • EXPERIENCE • EDUCATION:
- Experience
- Prior manufacturing or machine shop experience preferred but not required.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Technical Aptitude
- Ability to use basic hand tools; familiarity with measuring tools is a plus.
- Work Ethic
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
- Communication
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Safety Awareness
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
