Description
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Lead Systems Administrator to oversee enterprise systems operations and drive technical excellence across Linux-based and Oracle infrastructure environments. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity requirements and Agile/DevSecOps practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the administration and maintenance of enterprise IT systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Exadata, and ZFS storage systems.
- Manage and mentor a team of system administrators, providing technical guidance, task direction, and performance management.
- Perform system patching, performance tuning, backup/recovery operations, and capacity planning to ensure optimal uptime and reliability.
- Ensure systems are compliant with DoD STIGs, RMF controls, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, development, and operations teams to support Agile sustainment workflows and DevSecOps pipelines.
- Oversee system hardening, configuration management, and documentation of system configurations and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, escalating when necessary and ensuring timely resolution.
- Develop and implement automation for routine system administration tasks to improve efficiency and consistency.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Experience:
- 7–10 years of experience in enterprise systems administration, with demonstrated leadership in Linux-based environments.
- Strong background with Oracle infrastructure, including Exadata and ZFS.
- Certifications:
- Active IAT/IAM Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, CCNA Security).
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, system patching, backup/recovery, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with DoD STIGs, RMF compliance, and cybersecurity policies.
- Experience supporting Agile and DevSecOps methodologies in an enterprise IT environment.
- Leadership: Proven experience leading teams, managing priorities, and driving successful technical outcomes.
