The Acquisitions Buyer/Purchaser supports Warrant Technologies’ radar systems and defense programs by managing procurement activities for materials, components, and services. This position is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing radar-related equipment and electronic components in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) contracting and company procurement regulations. The Buyer works closely with engineering, project management, and logistics teams to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials that meet technical and quality requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Source and procure radar system components, electronic parts, and specialized materials to support active programs and production requirements.
- Develop and issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs), evaluate vendor proposals, and perform price and cost analysis.
- Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS, ITAR, and company procurement policies.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, purchase orders, and supplier communications within ERP systems.
- Coordinate closely with engineering teams to ensure purchased components meet radar performance and specification standards.
- Monitor supplier performance and manage corrective actions for quality or delivery issues.
- Support audits, supplier evaluations, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Track and report procurement metrics such as lead times, cost reductions, and vendor reliability.
- Collaborate with project managers to forecast material needs and align acquisitions with project schedules.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of procurement or buyer experience, preferably within the defense or radar systems industry.
- Experience working with DoD contracts and familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations required.
- Prior experience sourcing and purchasing radar components, RF/microwave equipment, or electronics strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of radar systems, electronic components, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, SAP, or similar).
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration across technical and administrative teams.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
