Position Summary

As Principal Engineer, you will lead the technical development of our next-generation smart incontinence detection platform. This role requires expertise in embedded systems, wireless IoT design, and medical device development, with a strong focus on regulatory-aware innovation. You’ll shape product architecture, oversee hardware and firmware integration, and scale a reliable system for real-world senior care environments.

Key Responsibilities

Lead architecture and system-level design for Wicked Smart Pad hardware, firmware, and cloud interfaces.
Oversee and refine the architecture for low-power sensing, BLE communication, and alert delivery.
Own the product lifecycle from prototype to production to post-market improvements, within a Class II, 510(k)-exempt framework.
Collaborate with product, clinical, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with ISO 13485, 14971, and applicable FDA guidance
Conduct and review risk analyses (FMEA), verification & validation (V&V), and design documentation.
Support contract manufacturers and external engineering partners to ensure quality, cost, and reliability targets are met.
Drive the integration of future product features.
Provide mentorship to internal engineers and consultants across hardware, firmware, and cloud development.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in embedded systems and IoT product development.
Experience launching connected medical devices—ideally battery-powered, low-power wireless systems (BLE, LoRa, etc.).
Familiarity with wireless protocols (BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular) and OTA update infrastructure.
Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 13485), risk management (ISO 14971), and Class II medical device processes.
Experience integrating with cloud platforms and mobile applications.
Clear communication and leadership skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
